Story:Honesty is Everything

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to chose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together. "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO," he said. "I have decided to choose one of you." The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a seed today - a very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO." One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Every day, he wo

Don't copy and be in trouble

At training program for top management. A well-known motivational speaker gathering the entire crowd's attention, said, "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife !" The crowd was shocked! He followed up by saying, "That woman was my mother!" The crowd burst into laughter and he gave his speech, which was well received. About a week later, one of the top managers who had the training decided to use that joke at his house. He tried to rehearse the joke in his head. It was a bit foggy to him. He said loudly, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!" Naturally, his wife was shell shocked, murmuring. After standing there for almost 10 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out "... and I can't remember who she was !" As expected, he got thrashing of his life time.... Moral of the story

There is only one way to attract customers

You can be in any business, but, there is only one way by which you can attract new customers and keep your existing customers. That is to treat your customer as you like yourself to be treated . If something you won't like something personally, neither your customer will like it. For instance, if a company does not bother to answer your email or phone calls , will you be continue to be it's loyal customer, I bet you won't. On the other hand, a loyal customer - a happy customer - will act like your marketing person without a salary (how good is that). How many times have you recommended Google Search to other people? I have done it a thousand times, whenever a computer illiterate person (like my uncle) asks me how to find the right information on the web. See, happy customer works for a company to add more customers. People rely on stories. When a friend asks your advice or recommendations, you tell your suggestion and tell how 'that thing' benefited you and sav

No news. One Smile

Today is no special day and I have no particular reason for writing to you.... I have no news to tell you.... nor any problems to discuss with you.... or gossip to tell you... It's only one of those happy moments... when I thought of you... and I would like to share these thoughts with you... many smiles begin, because of another smile!

How NOT to treat your customers?

I read lot of books on businesses and the best practices in customer handling. I personally experienced how not to handle a customer. There is much more you can learn from a bad experience than from normal stories about customer satisfaction. Customers no longer wants to be just remain satisfied. Companies need to find ways to keep their customers in happy mood, because, every customer would find fault with companies only. Here goes the story. I stayed at Saville Hotel (2, Bond Street, Sydney) in during my official visit in the last week of September. I was not aware of my check-out time on the final day and I assumed my company had made the bookings until evening 5pm (My mistake). When I was at work, my company contacted me on that day at 1 pm saying the room is needed immediately and I have to vacate soon. I replied them that I can vacate as soon as the meeting gets over and told to inform the hotel that I would be vacating at 4pm. As I was busy with a meeting which ended at 4 pm, I

The Limits of Love

After the divorce, her teenage daughter became increasingly rebellious. It culminated late one night when the police called to tell her that she had to come to the police station to pick up her daughter, who was arrested for drunk driving. They didn't speak until the next afternoon. Mom broke the tension by giving her daughter a small gift-wrapped box. Her daughter nonchalantly opened it and found a small piece of a rock. She rolled her eyes and said, "Cute Mom, what's this for?" "Here's the card," Mom said. Her daughter took the card out of the envelope and read it. Tears started to trickle down her cheeks. She got up and gave her mom a big hug as the card fell to the floor. On the card were these words: "This rock is more than 200 million years old. That's how long it will take before I give up on you." --Author Unknown
